Technology in Music Day

On Tuesday October 23, 2007 we conducted the latest in a series of Model Schools Technology in the Curriculum days. More than 25 music teachers from many of our component districts participated in our Model Schools Teaching Music with Technology day.

During the day participants saw presentations on, using iPods in a music classroom, applications for using a SMARTBoard, online resources for music education and technology for authentic assessment for music education.

Our thanks go to Johnna Bartlett, elementary music teacher from the Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School, who served as the facilitator for the day. Despite a bad case of laryngitis she facilitated a discussion on the common challenges that music educators face and possible applications of technology to address them. Johnna also gave a presentation on how she uses a FileMaker Pro database and her Palm PDA to keep assessment data on her students.

We would also like to thank Kelly Larrivey from Presentation Concepts Corporation for comming to do a demonstration on using SMARTBoards.
